About Me
I’m Dr. ShriNidhi B M, currently pursuing my MD in Manas Shastra at SDM College of Ayurveda & Hospital, Hassan — the branch of Ayurveda concerned with the mind, mental health, and the classical understanding of psychiatric and psychosomatic conditions.
What I focus on
Manas Shastra sits at an interesting intersection: it draws on centuries-old Ayurvedic texts on the mind (sattva, rajas, tamas, and the classical descriptions of unmada and other mental disorders), while engaging with the same questions modern psychiatry asks about mental wellbeing, behaviour, and healing.
My work as a postgraduate scholar involves clinical training, case studies, and research into how these classical frameworks can inform how we think about mental health today.
Why this blog
I started this space to write about what I’m learning as I go — reflections from the wards, notes on Ayurvedic psychiatry, and the everyday experience of being a postgraduate medical scholar. Nothing here is a substitute for professional medical advice; it’s simply a record of my learning journey, shared in case it’s useful or interesting to someone else.
